Join in the hike - join in the celebration - 20 years of Gesäuse National Park
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Gesaeuse National Park invites you to a long-distance hike from the provincial capital Graz to the "National Park capital" Gstatterboden, embarking on a search for pristine landscapes.
After the start on 21 October in Graz, six stages bring the big goal ever closer: the 20th anniversary celebration of the Gesäuse National Park in the "National Park Capital" Gstatterboden - 26 October from 3 pm.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Alpenverein Landesverband Steiermark. The route leads via Peggau, the Gleinalm, St. Peter-Freienstein and Radmer to the Gesäuse. The National Park welcomes any accompaniment, be it on one stage, on several stages or just a little way. On the last four kilometres from Kummerbrücke along the Ennsboden Trail to Gstatterboden, all guests of the 20th anniversary celebration are cordially invited to hike along!
Director Herbert Wölger on the hike: "Starting in Graz, we set out in search of the remnants of original landscape. We will find that the human stamp becomes smaller and smaller until we arrive in the wilderness of the National Park. We will also find that walking opens the mind - not insignificant in these times. 20 years of the Gesäuse National Park call for a humble approach - it doesn't get any better than on foot!"
