Guests and locals alike move in self-organised
Small groups set off to clean up nature in the mountains and along the Enns and Salza rivers. The event is organised by the non-profit association PATRON e.V. in cooperation with the Gesäuse National Park, the Steirische Eisenwurzen Nature and Geopark and the Gesäuse Tourism Association. Austria Advertising is also part of the
Partie. The common goal: "We want to inspire as many people as possible to awaken the protective instinct in themselves and give something back to nature," says CleanUP Manager Martina Mayer.

The idea of the Gesäuse CleanUP Days is actually quite simple and quickly explained: numerous nature enthusiasts set off in small groups to collect rubbish together in the forests, on lakeshores, on the mountains and in communities - in other words, wherever rubbish is left behind.
was. Those who take part on these days can expect not only the wonderful feeling of having set an example for nature, but also a special kind of outdoor experience together.

The event takes up the established "Xeis-Putz", continues it and makes it accessible to a larger number of volunteers. In 2021, around 150 people responded to the call and freed nature in the Gesäuse from paper, packaging, bottles and other rubbish. The organisers want to build on this success this year. "The mission of our team is to preserve the Gesäuse landscape and its wild nature. The CleanUP Days make a valuable contribution to this because everyone can lend a hand." Says Marco Schiefer, project manager at the Gesäuse National Park. Österreich Werbung also sees a great opportunity
in the event format: "For our guests, Austria's nature is one of the most important reasons for choosing a holiday in Austria. We are happy to support the CleanUP Days in the Gesäuse, also to create awareness that the beauty and diversity of this unique natural and living space concerns us all," says Dennis Pregesbauer, Senior Innovation and Community Manager of the Austrian National Tourist Office.

Registration and coordination of the routes is done via the CleanUP map on www.plasticfreepeaks.com/gesaeuse. All participants can directly set the date and route of their self-selected tour here. The required CleanUP kit for all those interested, consisting of a recyclable and reusable fabric bag.
and a pair of stainless steel tongs, can be collected free of charge at one of the drop-off points before the march. These and the drop-off points for the collected rubbish can also be found on the CleanUP card. At the end of the event, every litter collector has the chance to win valuable prizes from the raffle. Among the prizes to be raffled are a camping holiday with a motorhome from partner Carado, an extra-light multi-talent backpack from EVOC Sports and a PATRON lunch box.
The event is financed with the help of donations, a grant from the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) as well as the Albrecht von Dewitz Foundation and a
national network of sponsors. Lina Wansel, Chairwoman of the Albrecht von Dewitz Foundation, says: "We are pleased to have been able to support the CleanUP Days as a sponsor since the very beginning. In this way, we would also like to contribute to raising awareness of the issue of nature and our influence on it as outdoor athletes." Those who want to get to know the faces behind the event will have the chance to do so at the CleanUP weekend: PATRON e.V. will be presenting itself at the Landler Kirtag on Saturday, 3 September.
in Landl, on Sunday, 04.09. at the "Steirische Roas" in Admont.

PATRON CleanUP Tour 2022
After Lake Constance, the Black Forest, the Allgäu, Tyrol and Chiemgau, where a total of almost 4,500 volunteers collected litter, the Gesäuse is already the sixth stop of the
PATRON CleanUP Tour 2022. By autumn, the young Allgäu initiative has set itself the goal of cleaning up two more regions in the Alpine region: the Montafon (Vorarlberg) and the Lake Constance-Königssee Cycle Route. In doing so, the non-profit association is building on the success of the previous year, when 800 routes were cleaned by over 5,000 volunteers.
